The Rural Educational Activities for Development (READ) is a civil society organization that has been working to empower Tribal and Dalit communities since 1993.

OUR NATURE

Rural Educational Activities for Development (READ) is a Non-government, non-profit organization, registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 in the year 1993 by a group of development professionals belong to Dalit and Tribal youths. After realization of the local situation and problems of their own people, who are struggling for their livelihood since years together, discriminated in all sphere of life, exploited from their rights and entitlements, unfair decisions are being taken due to illiteracy and ignorance, the founding members of READ established this organization to act as a facilitator and a change agents for self and the society to bring about sustainable development in the quality of life of the Dalit, Tribal, poor & marginalized rural communities in Orissa. Strengthening people’s organizations at various level, capacitate and facilitate them to enjoy equal rights, dignity and opportunities through participatory development process.

CAUSES

Your donations will strengthen our efforts to eliminate discrimination and violence, enhance the capacities of individuals and communities to access economic, social, political and cultural rights, and promote natural resource-linked livelihoods in the region and thereby contributing towards a gender-just and violence-free society.

WHAT WE DO ?

Rural Educational Activities for Development (READ) is an organization that focuses on providing educational opportunities and resources to rural communities. They have recognized the current context and challenges facing these communities and have set a strategic goal for the period of 2021 to 2026. They have identified specific areas of intervention, referred to as “thematic areas,” that they will focus on in order to achieve their goal. These areas may include things like providing access to educational materials, training teachers, building schools, and more.
